Steve is the chief operating officer (COO) and chief fin ancial officer (CFO) at Blumberg Capital. Based in San Francisco, he brings extensive operating and board experience from his years in venture capital leading high growth startups through acquisitions and IPO preparation, and from his time in senior-level finance and operating positions with publicl y traded companies
Prior to joining Blumberg Capital, Steve served as CFO at Azure Capital Partners and was previously CFO at e-commerce startup Mercantila, CFO/COO at marketing technology company Fathom Online and CFO at e-commerce company Alibris.
Steve serves as a member or obs erver on the board of directors of Bento for Business and Deep Instinct.
Steve earned his MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. in accountancy fr om the University of Illinois.
Ste ve Hyndman has served as GGV Capital’s Chief Financial Officer since 2005. He has over 30 years of financial, venture capital, and operational experie nce in Silicon Valley-based technology enterprises.
He was previously CFO of Prospero Ventures, a ventu re capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies, and CFO of the U.S. subsidiary of ASCII Corporation, a Tokyo-based technology and media c ompany making strategic investments throughout North America. Steve also se rved as CFO of a publicly traded software company and held various financia l and operating positions.
S teve is a graduate of Santa Clara University, where he earned a B.S. in Com merce (cum laude) and Juris Doctor. He also studied international business at the Instituto de Estudios Europeos in Madrid, Spain.
Bill is Mainsail’s Ch ief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer and works with Mainsail’ s portfolio companies to help them scale their financial operations as they migrate from bootstrapping to mature operating models. Bill also helps the investment team at Mainsail evaluate new investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Mainsail, Bill wa s CFO of Hearsay Social, a privately-held enterprise software company offer ing an advisor-client engagement platform for financial services companies, where he oversaw finance, accounting, legal and people operations. From 20 11 to 2014, Bill was CFO of Avast Software, a privately held security softw are company, during a period of significant growth and evolution in its bus iness and capital structure. Previously, Bill served as CFO of Crescendo Bi oscience, a privately-held molecular diagnostics company, which he joined p rior to product release, building the finance organization and driving capi tal raising activities including the innovative financing transaction that ultimately led to Crescendo’s acquisition by Myriad Genetics. From 1994 to 2008, Bill served as an officer, most recently Managing Director, in Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, where he advised senior management of technology companies on initial public offerings and other equity and de bt financings. Bill started his career in law practice with Davis Polk & ; Wardwell.
Bill received an A.B. in International Relations, with distinction, from Stanford Universit y and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Matthew Goldberg is a principal in BDO’s Valuation and Business Analyti
cs practice and leads the group’s Financial Services, Complex Financial Ins
truments, and Hard-to-Value Assets services. He offers more than 15 years o
f advisory and financial services experience when working with clients to p
rovide advisory services that achieve a range of business and strategic obj
ectives. In addition to providing valuation services, his practice provides
model validation, risk management, and asset liability management consulti
ng services.
Matthew has ext ensive experience valuing a wide range of debt products and complex derivat ives including adjustable stock options and warrants, restricted stock unit s, performance-based shares, convertible debt instruments, municipals, a va riety of credit products and other hedging instruments such as interest rat e swaps and put/call strategies.
He has been involved in numerous engagements including assisting mana gement in strategic planning, performing projects for financial reporting a nd tax reporting, and providing advisory services related to mergers and ac quisitions. Matthew has also worked on numerous valuation assignments for p urposes of ASC 718 and ASC 805 intangible asset valuation and purchase pric e allocations, ASC 350 goodwill impairment analyses, and international tax valuations.
